Dear BME/EECS 516 Class:

I intended for the final to be a difficult exam, but I was very pleased at how many students successfully handled the very difficult MRI and ultrasound problems.  The central section theorem problems proved to be the most problematic – far more points were lost on this part than any other.  In any case, I hope you found the problems to be interesting and stimulating.  The first quartile, median and third quartile grades were: 94, 87.5, and 76, respectively.

Graded exams, CT projects and HW #6 and exam solutions can all be picked up at my BIRB office in January.

For the final course grade, I took the weighted average of homework score (with lowest score dropped - 10%), the 3 project scores (20% each), and the final exam score (30%) and choose some nature breaks in the distribution to make breaks between letter grades.  Overall course grades were assigned as follows:

97 and up:           A+

92-96:                 A

85-91:                 A-

80-84:                 B+

80 and below:      B

If your records would indicate a grade that is in disagreement with the grade that you received, please let me know.

Best wishes for great 2005!
