In the interaction of a relativistic intensity laser with a gas jet target, we observed a collimated high-energy electron beam with an emittance of 0.1 mm mrad. The figure below shows the experimental setup (top), the electron beam behind 1 cm of aluminum - with an energy cutoff of 4 MeV - on the phosphor screen (bottom left), and the angular distribution of the electron beam (bottom right). |
