Eric Michielssen received his M.S. in Electrical Engineering (Summa
Cum Laude) from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium) in 1987,
and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in 1992. He currently is a
Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UIUC. His
research interests include all aspects of theoretical and applied
computational electromagnetics with an emphasis on the development of
fast frequency and time domain integral-equation-based techniques for
analyzing electromagnetic phenomena and robust optimizers for
electromagnetic/optical devices. He is the (co-)author of 120 journal
articles and book chapters and 180 conference papers and abstracts.
Eric Michielssen was the recipient of a 1994 International Union of
Radio Scientists (URSI) Young Scientist Fellowship, a 1995 National
Science Foundation CAREER Award, and the 1998 Applied Computational
Electromagnetics Society Valued Service Award. In addition, he was
named 1999 URSI United States National Committee Henry G. Booker
Fellow and selected as the recipient of the 1999 URSI Koga Gold
Medal. Recently, he was awarded the UIUC's 2001 Xerox Award for
Faculty Research, and appointed Beckman Fellow in its Center for
Advanced Studies, UIUC Scholar, and Sony Faculty Fellow. He is an
Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation
and a Fellow of the IEEE. |
