Radar Image Processing Lab

This lab is part of the Radiation Lab, which is part of the College of Engineering.

       

• OVERVIEW
  
  The lab's major focus is on the use of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) for land-cover classification. We also attempt to estimate various biophysical quantities such as: biomass, moisture, and tree height. All of this work requires accurately calibrated data, which we have spent much time on over the years. We use data from a variety of sources, including:
  
        JPL AirSAR/TOPSAR
        SIR-C/X-SAR
        ERS-1/2
        JERS-1
        RADARSAT
  
  Other projects include:
  
  A suite of software tools for conversion of the disparate CEOS-formatted SAR data files into a consistent format with little or no programming required.
  
  A growing set of programs to process SAR data, including classification and inversion.
