Keeping on track

Quick news page. Please consult this page regularly for updates on what's going on in EECS 206. This will be one of four primary ways to make sure you're on track in the course. The other three are lectures, lab sessions, and email.

Syllabus, Lecture Horizon, and College Honor Code/Collaboration Policy. The left-hand column of the webpage contains pointers to a variety of important topics. This week you should be on top of the syllabus, the lecture horizon, and the College Honor Code/Collaboration policy.

Office hours. By Friday, 9/7, we will be posting office hours for the two instructors and the GSI's.

Who's that strange person at the front of the class? This is going to be a team-taught course. Check out the lecture schedule for who will be lecturing to both sections on which days. In general, it will be either Prof. Neuhoff or Prof. Wakefield. It may occassionally be both. We hope it will never be neither. Keep track - there may be a question on the quiz about who is the lecturer for the day!

Class Email list

Important announcements will be made via the class email mailing list. It is essential that you enroll in the class email list. To do so, send email to the address listed below with the word "subscribe" as the subject:

A test email will be sent Monday, Sept. 10 and announced in class. If you do not receive it, contact your instructor.

Drop-Add/Overrides

Are you registered appropriately? Many, but not all, of you have successfully registered for the course by secured a lecture section (1 or 2) and one of the 9 lab sections (3-11).
Wait-list procedures. For those of you who are wait-listed or wish to get into the course, we will be making announcements during lecture on Wednesday, September 5. We will update the website concerning the status of registration/drop-adds and overrides and the procedures we will follow.
Consider taking the course next term. Because this is the first time this course has been offered, we expect there to be far more students interested in taking the course than we have room for. Please consider the following when making a decision about dropping or adding the course. This is the first time the course has been offered, and, therefore, it will be a shake-down cruise! "Interesting and insightful" - of course - but, it will be a shake-down cruise nevertheless for the instructors and the graduate student instructors. This goes for both the lectures and laboratories. The Winter term offering will learn from the mistakes and successes of the Fall term. In addition, the Winter term offering will have a dedicated computer laboratory facility for the lab sections. Bottom line: if you can delay taking this course by a semester, we ask you to think about doing so.

Preparing for the first lab

When do they start? Lab sections begin Monday, September 10th. There will be no lab sessions held during the first week of classes (9/5-7).
Where will they be? During the week of Sept. 10, all labs will be held in the CAEN Lab in Room 2341 of the EECS Building (not the room assigned in time schedule). This is the room labeled "CAD VLSI Lab" across from Room 2340.
