The Automated Beverage DispenserTeam Members:Michael Everhart David Castellani Project Goals: The goal of our project was to build an automated beverage dispenser that would not only fill a cup automatically when inserted, but would take measures to prevent over or under filling due to excessive foaming of the beverage. To this end, the cup is placed on a movable platform so that the angle of liquid flow into the cup can be regulated. By starting with the cup at approximately a 45 degree angle and slowly bringing the cup upright as it fills, foaming is prevented (or at least minimized). The liquid level was to be measured using some sort of distance sensor, and the angle of the cup would be adjusted automatically. Additionally, we wanted to implement a display to provide instructions and information on system status. All material copyright 2005 Michael Everhart and David Castellani. |
