Frame
We wanted to design a frame that was both stable and easy to develop as a prototype. Initially, our plan was to use ink jet printer cartridge assemblies. However, we realized that this design is unrealistic. Taking note of another group with a design involving heavy motor movement, we realized the effectiveness of using K'Nex pieces. We highly recommend the use of K'Nex as a solution to all your movement-related problems. It is very easy to construct an initial design and modify later on to accommodate evolving designs.
Our design was basically two sets of tracks, one essentially driven on the second. The pulley was connected to the horizontal axis (with respect to the picture on the right). This in turn moved the claw up and down along the z-axis.
