The final exams have been graded and the course grades have been submitted.
You may collect your graded final exam in Room 4230. They are in envelopes in the book shelves on the wall between the two doors from the corridor. Uncollected homework papers are also available.
The course grades have been posted to the website (by the last 4 digits of your ID number) along with the a complete list of homework and exam grades.
Comments on the final exam: Solutions to the final exam have been posted to the website. The solutions also contain the exam average and the A,B,C grade ranges. For example the average was 92/135. Many people did well on the exam. However, the exam was definitely on the long side, and many appeared to have run out of time. And some students appear to have not yet adequately absorbed the material of the last section of the class.
Best wishes for the holidays and for good luck in the new year.
It's been nice having your in class.

Tuesday, Dec. 16, 10:30-12:30, Rooms 1311 and 1200 EECS.
The exam is closed book. You may bring 3 page-sides of notes. No calculators. The exam covers the entire course. However, it is estimated that three quarters of the questions will deal with material since the last exam. Of course, such questions will also test your ability to deal with earlier material.
Homework and exam grades have been posted in the left hand column via the last four digits of your ID number. If you find a discrepancy. Please bring the paper that shows your grade to me. If I'm not in, you may slip it under my door with a note of explanation.

Reminder: I will be out of town attending a conference Monday through Wednesday. There is no class this coming Monday and Wednesday. There will be recitations as usual. I will miss my Monday-Wednesday office hours, but will be back in time for my Thursday office hours.
The makeup lecture tonight will be in Room 1311 EECS at 6:40 PM.

There will be a 1 1/2 hour makeup lecture Monday at 6:40 PM. The room will be announced later. (Several students changed their votes and requested that we start at this time, rather than the originally chosen 6 PM, which tipped the balance.)
Please register for the section for which you are assigned, if you have not already done so. See the list posted on the website on 9/3 (unless there has been a subsequent change).
Homework 1 Solutions have been posted.
Homework 2 has been posted, due next Friday.
I have also posted some notes on the material discussed yesterday in lecture related to the Borel sigma algebra and measure.
As mentioned in class, I will be away at a conference Monday-Thursday. As a result there will be no lectures Monday and Wednesday. And I will not hold office hours Monday-Thursday. (I apologize for missing office hours yesterday. It was one of those too hectic days.)
However, there will be recitations at the usual times. And if you need help at times I would normally be available, please email the GSI's who may be able to meet with you.
See you Friday.
You may now pick up a copy of the book from Ms. Ann Pace in Room 4230. We expect to run out of copies soon, but will have more available next week. In the meantime, you can download a copy of the first chapter from the left frame of this webpage.
Important Class Announcement
Please read the following carefully. We have opened an additional recitation section, which will soon permit us to admit most students who have requested to be admitted.
Also, as predicted in class on Monday we have moved the Wednesday recitations to Monday and Tuesday so that (a) all students have had the same lectures prior to recitation and (b) the timing of all recitations is approximately the same relative to homework assignments and exams.
The following will now be the recitation times:
A Monday 10:30-12:30
B Monday 12:30-2:30
C Monday 3:30-5:30
D Tuesay 12:30-2:30
The recitations have not yet received "section numbers" so for now we will refer to them by the letters A,B,C,D, as shown above.
You can find your assigned recitation in the current status list. Next to your name will
either be one of the letters A,B,C,D or possibly certain other
letters. Here is the code:
A = Recitation A
B = Recitation B
C = Recitation C
D = Recitation D
X = conflict with all four recitations
Y = see Prof. Neuhoff as soon as possible
NF = no form submitted and no assignment made
At this time, we are not yet ready to have students reregister for their new recitation. But whether or not you have reregistered, you should attend the recitation indicated in this list.
If you are a registered students who has not submitted a survey form, please complete one and bring it to Prof. Neuhoff right away. You can find one on this website.
If you wish to enroll in the class but have not submitted a survey form, you may still do so. You can find one on this website. Bring it to Prof. Neuhoff. You will be considered along with the other students who have not yet been admitted.
