Designated Dialer: Blocks Those Calls You Might Regret Later
Developed as a class project in Prof. Elliot Soloway's EECS 498 class, Designated Dialer is an Android app that blocks outgoing calls that the user might later regret. The phone remains in this blocked state until the user passes a field sobriety test in the form of a balancing task, or slur detection activity.
Designated Dialer provides interactive and entertaining sobriety tests, allows users to create a whitelist of trusted contacts, and is immune to work-arounds like rebooting.
The app was created by Nona Ebrahimi, Stephanie Ogura, Travis O'Sullivan, and Joe Romeo, and is today available through Google Play.
