Jean-Louis Cazaux was born in 1960 in Tarbes, France. He received his first degree in Physics from the Université Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, France, in 1982, and the Ph.D. in electronics from the Institut National des Sciences Appli-quées, Toulouse, in 1985.
From 1982 to 1986 he worked at the L.A.A.S. laboratory of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Toulouse, on the modeling and applications of GaAs MESFETs with non-uniform doping profile. In 1987 he was a post-doctoral fellow with the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His research concerned the design of HEMTs and other III-V microwave devices as applied in monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs). In 1988 he joined Alcatel-Espace, Toulouse, as design engineer of MMICs for space applications. In 1990 he became Studies Manager for the development of T/A modules for active antenna of space-borne radar. He is also deeply involved in Alcatel's program introducing MMIC's to space-equipment.
