HIN-FAI CHAU

Hin-Fai Chau was born in Hong Kong in January, 1964. He received the B.Sc. (Eng.) degree with honors from the University of Hong Kong in 1985 and the M.S.E. degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1986, both in electrical engineering. In 1992 he obtained the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan for work on heterojunction bipolar transistors and high electron mobility transistors.

In 1987 he joined the Center of High Frequency Microelectronics and the Solid-State Electronics Laboratory at the University of Michigan as a Research Assistant. His research interests include design, fabrication and characterization of heterostructure devices, applications of strained-layer systems to these devices, and device modeling. Since 1992 he has been with the Central Research Laboratories of Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas, working in the area of Heterojunction Bipolar Transistors.

Dr. Chau received the Distinguished Achievement Award from the University of Michigan in 1990 in recognition of his outstanding work in electrical engineering. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi and of the Electrochemical Society.
