Kazutaka Tomizawa was born in Taiyuan,China, on October 29, 1941. He received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering in 1967 and the Ph.D. degree in 1972, both from Meiji University, Japan.
From 1972 to 1974, he was a research staff member in the Department of Electronic Engineering at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, United Kingdom. In 1974, he joined the Department of Electronic and Communication Engineering of Meiji University, Japan, and has been working on Gunn-effect devices, microwave devices and GaAs FET logic devices. From 1988 to 1989, he was Visiting Professor in Electrical Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he worked on heterojunction bipolar transistor optimization. He is currently working on electron transport in submicrometer semiconductor devices.
Dr. Tomizawa is a member of the IECE of Japan, the Japan Society of Applied Physics, and the Physical Society of Japan.
