ECE Faculty: U-M Distinguished Awards
Distinguished Faculty Achievement
This award honors senior faculty who have consistently demonstrated outstanding achievements in the areas of scholarly research and/or creative endeavors, teaching and mentoring of students and junior faculty, service, and a variety of other activities which have brought distinction to themselves and to the University of Michigan.
Distinguished Faculty Governance Award
Faculty members who consistently place University-wide interests on the same level as personal career and departmental interests represent a scarce resource that all faculty members treasure. Their concern with the general welfare protects and nourishes our individual welfare. Faculty governance is the arena in which these citizens serve, and it is faculty government through the Senate Advisory Committee on University Affairs that recognizes their accomplishments with this award. The Distinguished Faculty Governance Award was established by SACUA in 1986 and is funded by the Alumni Association.
Distinguished Graduate Mentor Award
To honor and encourage the considerable efforts and accomplishments of faculty who consistently serve as effective mentors of doctoral students, the Rackham Graduate School has established the Graduate Mentor Awards for tenured faculty from any discipline. The successful mentor serves as advisor, teacher, advocate, sponsor, and role model, ensuring that the experience of dedicated scholars and artists remains accessible to the full spectrum of graduate students. Recipients have demonstrated a commitment to fostering the intellectual, creative, scholarly and professional growth of their graduate students.
Distinguished Service Award
The Distinguished Service Award honors an individual who has provided distinguished service to the University and to the community.
Distinguished University Innovator Award
The annual Distinguished University Innovator Award was established by the Office for the Vice President for Research (OVPR) at the University of Michigan in 2007. The award recognizes the recipient's important and lasting contributions to the economy by moving new innovations into the private sector for public benefit, and by demonstrating entrepreneurial success.
