
Ashutosh Nayyar, doctoral candidate in electrical engineering: systems
working with Prof. Demosthenis
Teneketzis, has been awarded a 2010 Rackham Predoctoral Fellowship from
the Rackham School of Graduate Studies at the University of Michigan.
The title of Ashutosh's dissertation is "Decentralized Decision
Making: Problems from Communication and Sensor Networks." He is
investigating decision-making problems in decentralized systems, in
particular communication systems and sensor networks. He will use newly
developed
methods in a multi-disciplinary NASA project to find sensor
scheduling and estimation strategies for the purpose of tracking soil
moisture evolution.

The Rackham Predoctoral Fellowship is a competitive fellowship that supports
outstanding doctoral students in their last stages of dissertation research
and writing. The award recipients will be honored at a reception in early
April.
