In addition to MICWIC, CSE supports a number of programs designed to expand opportunities for women in computing through outreach, education, and through connection to resources. We are pleased to see that the percentage of female students who have enrolled in computer science at Michigan has increased in recent years.

MICWIC’s goal is to increase the number of women in computer science professions by bringing together students, faculty, and business leaders from across Michigan and neighboring states to discuss the role of women in today's technology fields, share experiences and strategies for success, and explore issues common to women working in these fields.

During the MICWIC conference, there will be presentations, panel discussions, a poster session, and career exploration that will focus on research and career interests of women in computing and information technology.

There will be three keynote speakers at the conference: Joyce Chai, a CSE professor at Michigan State University, Louise Hemond-Wilson, the Chief Technology Officer for IBM Systems and Technology Group Lab Services, and Heidi Musser, the Vice President of IT Shared Services at USAA.

The conference is for faculty, professionals, and students who are interested in learning about the challenges and rewards of a computing career or in advancing technology through a broader representation of women. Participants are also encouraged to submit their work to the conference, and faculty technology leaders are encouraged to meet and mentor students who are interested in a future in computing.

The submission deadline is March 1st, 2015 and the early registration deadline is March 4th, 2015.

Please visit micwic.org for more information about the conference.
