Seattle Alumni

ECE Alumni of the greater Seattle area gathered for a networking dinner at the World Trade Center on March 19, 2015. The event, sponsored by ECE Alumni Babak Parviz (Amazon) and Dawson Yee (Microsoft), was the first time many alumni in the area had a chance to meet. The evening was such a success, plans are already underway for a follow-up event.

ECE Chair Khalil Najafi gave remarks about the ECE division and its current projects. He also had a fun time selecting the winners of some True Blue raffle gifts.

Professors Yogesh Gianchandani, Mohammed Islam and Jay Guo shared brief remarks about their research. Everyone had a great time as they renewed friendships and made valuable contacts.

"The alumni were really engaged," said Prof. Islam. Attendees represented many companies, including Microsoft, Amazon, Nintendo, Planetary Resources, and Google. Several were entrepreneurs. Alumni spanned generations, with some graduates as recent as 2014 and others seniors in their field.

Guests and faculty shared stories of their current work, and made promises to keep in touch.

"Dawson was very interested in many technical aspects of the work we discussed," said Prof. Guo. "He asked me to keep him updated as things progress in my research."
