American University of Beirut Distinguished Alumnus Award

The American University of Beirut established its Distinguished Alumnus Award to recognize those alumni who have distinguished themselves through their profession.

CSE faculty who have received the American University of Beirut Distinguished Alumnus Award are:

 

CAV (Computer-Aided Verification) Award

An annual award, called the CAV Award, was established in 2008 by the International Conference on Computer-Aided Verification and presented to individuals who made major advances in creating high-performance Boolean SAT (satisfiability) solvers. The CAV conference is the premier international event for reporting research on Computer-Aided Verification.

EDUCAUSE Paul Evan Peters Award

The Paul Evan Peters Award is given every other year and recognizes the most notable and lasting international achievements related to high performance networks and the creation and use of information resources and services that advance scholarship and intellectual productivity.

This award is offered jointly by the Association of Research Libraries, the Coalition for Networked Information, and EDUCAUSE. It was developed in honor of Paul Evan Peters, founding director of the Coalition for Networked Information (CNI), who guided CNI until his untimely death in 1996 and who was recognized as one of the 100 most influential people in 20th century librarianship in the American Libraries listing of December 1999.

Franklin Institute Wetherill Medal

Through its awards program, The Franklin Institute seeks to provide public recognition and encouragement of excellence in science and technology.

HFES Jack A. Kraft Innovator Award

The Human Factors and Ergonomics Society gives the Jack A. Kraft Award to an individual each year who has made significant efforts to extend or diversify the application of HF/E principles and methods to new areas of endeavor. In addition, recipients must have made effective efforts to encourage the application of HF/E knowledge and techniques in new areas. Recipients are selected for the significance of their effort to society in general, the adequacy of the effort to accomplish intended objectives, and the impact of their effort on the HF/E profession.

HKN Professor of the Year Award

HKN, or Eta Kappa Nu, is an honor society for electrical and computing engineering students. Each year, the U-M chapter presents its Professor of the Year Award to an Instructor or Professor elected by society members.

CSE faculty who have received the HKN Professor of the Year Award are:

 

Humboldt Research Award

The Humboldt Research Award, also known as the Humboldt Prize, is awarded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Germany to internationally renowned scientists and scholars in recognition of their entire achievements to date, and whose fundamental discoveries, theories, or insights have had a significant impact on their discipline.

IJCAI Computers and Thought Award

The Computers and Thought Award is presented at the International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI) to outstanding young scientists in artificial intelligence. The award was established with royalties received from the book, Computers and Thought, edited by Edward Feigenbaum and Julian Feldman.

Ilinois Institute of Technology Honorary Doctorate

Illinois Institute of Technology is a national, technological, Ph.D.-granting research university, with world-renowned programs in engineering, architecture, the sciences, humanities, psychology, business, law, and design.

Linguistics Society of America Linguistics, Language, and the Public Award

The Linguistics Society of America presents this award annually at the LSA conference to recognize people or organizations that have had a demonstrable impact on the public awareness of linguistics.

University of Pennsylvania Moore School Harold Pender Award

The Harold Pender Award, initiated in 1972, is given by the faculty of the Moore School at Penn to an outstanding member of the engineering profession who has achieved distinction by significant contributions to society. The Harold Pender Award is the School's highest honor and is celebrated with a guest lecture by the honoree and a reception.

SHOUT Golden Apple Award

U-M Students Honoring Outstanding University Teaching (SHOUT) honors a teacher each year with the Golden Apple Award who consistently teaches each lecture as if it were their last, and strives not only to disseminate knowledge but to inspire and engage students in its pursuit.

Society of Women Engineers Achievement Award

This award, established in 1952, is the highest tribute conferred annually by the Society of Women Engineers. Recipients are "the women whose achievements wrote our technological
history and formed the foundation for our technological future."

Society of Women Engineers Teaching Award

This award is given annually by the Society of Women Engineers for achievement as an outstanding engineering instructor.

Tau Beta Pi Outstanding Teaching Award

Tau Beta Pi is the only engineering honor society representing the entire engineering profession. It is the nation's second-oldest honor society, founded at Lehigh University in 1885 to mark in a fitting manner those who have conferred honor upon their Alma Mater by distinguished scholarship and exemplary character as students in engineering, or by their attainments as alumni in the field of engineering, and to foster a spirit of liberal culture in engineering colleges.

CSE faculty who have received the Tau Beta Pi Outstanding Teaching Award from the U-M Tau Beta Pi chapter are:

Trinity College Honorary Doctorate

Trinity College, in Hartford CT, celebrated "100 years of engineering excellence" at its homecoming weekend in 1998 with several events, including a special convocation. Honorary degrees were conferred on eight people who have distinguished themselves in the field of engineering.

Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) Outstanding Research Mentorship Award

This award recognizes faculty members for outstanding research mentorship. Students nominate the award recipients, and a student committee selects the finalists.

University of Illinois Alumni Award for Distinguished Service

The University of Illinois Alumni Award for Distinguished Service recognizes the accomplishments of outstanding alumni and former faculty members. The award honors leadership, contributions to knowledge, and dedication to the professional development of young engineers and scientists.

University of Illinois Young Alumni Achievement Award

The University of Illinois ECE Young Alumni Achievement Award recognizes young alumni) who have made outstanding professional contributions to their field since graduating from ECE Illinois. One or two Young Alumni Achievement Awards are presented each year.
