The Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) Young Investigator Program is open to scientists and engineers at research institutions across the United States who have received Ph.D. or equivalent degrees in the last five years and show exceptional ability and promise for conducting basic research.

Computer History Museum Fellows

Fellows of the Computer History Museum are honored as exceptional men and women whose ideas have changed the world. Their tool has been the computer, their accomplishments as wide-ranging as computing itself: networking, hardware, software, storage, programming languages – technologies that affect nearly every human alive today. The Awards are part of the Museum's vision to explore the computing revolution and its impact on the human experience. The tradition began in 1987 with the first Fellow, early programming pioneer Grace Murray Hopper.

DARPA Research Excellence Award

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) was created in 1958. The political and defense communities recognized the need for a high-level defense organization to formulate and execute R&D projects that would expand the frontiers of technology beyond the immediate and specific requirements of the Military Services and their laboratories.

DARPA Young Faculty Award

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Young Faculty Award program is intended to identify and engage rising research stars in junior faculty positions in academia, and provide high-impact funding in order to develop their research ideas in the context of Department of Defense needs.

In 2002, Electronic Design magazine officially launched its Hall of Fame of electronic design with a list of individuals who have made landmark career accomplishments in electronics.

The Google Faculty Research Awards program is a competitive worldwide program intended to facilitate more interaction between Google and academia.

Governor's University Award for Commercialization Excellence

This award, given by Michigan's Governor and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, recognizes the successful commercialization of technology stemming from the research and entrepreneurial efforts of researchers at Michigan's public universities.

Ho-Am Prize in Engineering

The Ho-Am Prize was founded by Kun-Hee Lee, Chairman of Samsung, in 1990, in honor of his father, the late Byung-Chull Lee, founder of Samsung. It is awarded to a domestic/abroad ethnic Korean who has made outstanding contributions to the development of science and culture and enhancement of the welfare of mankind. It is the highest honor bestowed to Korean origin engineers and researchers.

HP Labs Innovation Research Award

HP's Innovation Research Program began in 2008 and is designed to create opportunities for colleges, universities, and research institutes around the world to conduct breakthrough collaborative research with H Labs, the company's central research arm.

IBM Faculty Award

The IBM Faculty Award is a competitive worldwide program of the IBM Austin Center for Advanced Studies intended to foster collaboration between researchers at leading universities worldwide and those in IBM research, development and services organizations; and promote courseware and curriculum innovation to stimulate growth in disciplines and geographies that are strategic to IBM. To qualify for this internationally competitive award, the nominee must be a full-time professor at an accredited university which has a Ph.D. or MBA program in the nominee's field. Candidates must have an outstanding reputation for contributions in their field or, in the case of junior faculty, show unusual promise.

Intel Early Career Faculty Honor Program Award

The Intel Early Career Faculty Honor Program Award provides financial and networking support for early-career faculty members who show great promise as academic leaders in disruptive computing technologies. The aim is to promote the careers of promising early career faculty members and to foster long-term collaborative relationships with senior technical leaders at Intel.

MARCO/DARPA Gigascale Systems Research Center A. Richard Newton GSRC Industrial Impact Award

The A. Richard Newton GSRC Industrial Impact Award is an annual award given by the MARCO/DARPA Gigascale Systems Research Center that recognizes research that is at least five years old and has had significant industrial impact. The award honors the innovative career of the late A. Richard Newton, former Dean of Engineering at UC Berkeley and founding director of the GSRC center.

This award seeks to fund projects that take advantage of innovative computational techniques at the heart of the research, and that may integrate approaches from a number of disciplines. Secretary of Defense Meritorious Civilian Service Award

The Meritorious Civilian Service Award is the second highest award and medal provided to civilian employees within agencies of the federal government of the United States. The award and is granted by the Secretary of the Army or a major Army commander. Nominees must have established a pattern of excellence and record of achievement.
