The College of Engineering Graduate Symposium serves to introduce new, current, and prospective graduate students to the breadth and depth of research being pursued across the College of Engineering. Highlights of the November 13, 2009 Graduate Symposium included:

Keynote Speaker:
Prof. Ian Hiskens, Vennema Professor of Engineering, EECS

What is the Smart Grid?
The seminar will establish the essential characteristics of a "smart grid" and discuss emerging trends in electricity generation and supply. The consequences of increased renewable generation and widespread adoption of plug-in electric vehicles will be explored, while reviewing the strategies for which the grid will be integrated into our world.

ECE Poster Presentation

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Division in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science presented approximately 90 research posters in this year's Symposium.

The Poster Session of the Symposium provides an opportunity for people within and outside the University to see a broad spectrum of our research. It is also an opportunity to meet the graduate students who prepare and present the posters.

Electromagnetics
Microsystems and Integrated Circuits
Optics
Signal Processing
Solid State
