About the Event
My talk is going to present running projects involving two different autonomous ground vehicles at the University of Koblenz. A small one (<50 kg) and a larger one (around 500 kg). Both are equipped with a number of sensors, such as 2D and 3D laser scanners, cameras and inertial measurement units for example. The primary goal of the projects is to perform both autonomous navigation and scene analysis. My talk is going to give an overview of a selection of our algorithms, such as terrain drivability analysis and 3D mapping. The focus of the talk is going to be on our mapping system, which allows to perform real-time, graph-based 3D mapping using the 3D laser scanners.
Frank Neuhaus received a Diploma degree in Computer Science from the University of Koblenz-Landau in Germany, where he graduated in 2011. Since then he has been working as a research associate in the Active Vision Group. His research is focused on 3D mapping, optimization and probabilistic modeling.
