| Scott A. Mahlke has been appointed the Morris Wellman Faculty Development Assistant Professor. Michael P. Wellman, professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, endowed this professorship in his grandfather’s name. Morris Wellman was an engineer who worked for most of his career as a civil servant of the City of New York. The professorship is to be awarded to a junior faculty member to recognize outstanding contributions to teaching and research.
Scott Mahlke received his BS degree in computer engineering from the University of Illinois in 1988 and his MS and PhD degrees in electrical engineering also from the University of Illinois in 1991 and 1999, respectively. From 1994 until 2001 he was a research engineer at Hewlett Packard Laboratories in Palo Alto, California. Since joining the engineering faculty in 2001, Scott has established an excellent teaching record and has been very successful in his research activities in the areas of application-specific processor design, compilers, computer architecture and high-level synthesis. Scott was the recipient of an NSF CAREER award in January 2004. |
