EE New Student Information (Fall 2010)
Welcome new Electrical Engineering Graduate Students! We are looking forward to having you in the Electrical Engineering Graduate Program. We hope the information on this web site will help you prepare for your studies and answer questions regarding the EE Graduate Program.
When you arrive on campus, please stop by the Electrical Engineering Graduate Office (3403 EECS Building) to introduce yourself and make your counseling appointment. You need to attend the New Student Orientation/Welcome Meeting, which will be on Thursday, September 2, at 10:00 am in room 1500 EECS. The resource list to the right contains a wealth of information about our program and the university.
Before classes begin, you will need to meet with your advisor to discuss your class schedule. In your first term you will need to have your Master’s Plan of Study approved by your advisor (and then submitted to the Graduate Office for inclusion in your file). You must complete the Master's degree Plan of Study if you are pursuing a MS or MSE degree. If you are entering with a relevant Master's degree, you will need to complete the Ph.D. Plan of Study (you will not be receiving a Master’s degree as part of your tenure here). This document is a tentative schedule of classes you wish to take. Its purpose is to help you meet all the requirements for graduation in a timely fashion. You will probably change the Plan of Study at least once. The point is to insure, at all times, that you are pursuing a program of study that will lead to completion of all requirements by the desired date.
As always, if you have questions or need information, please stop by my office. We are looking forward to seeing you and trust that your stay here will be a rewarding one.
Best regards,
Beth Stalnaker
