Nonlinear Control

Overview
Nonlinear feedback control deals with the analysis and design of feedback systems that contain nonlinear elements, that is, functions or devices that do not obey the superposition and homogeneity principles. Nonlinear models are the rule rather than the exception in engineering systems and hence the ability to analyze and control them is an important attribute for a practicing engineer. The Control Laboratory has made, and continues to make important contributions to the development of nonlinear feedback control, including averaging, geometric methods, hybrid systems, observer design, quasi-linear control, and vibrational control, in both the continuous and discrete time domains.
