Signal Processing for Sensing and Sensor Networks

Research Areas -> Signal and Image Processing -> Signal Processing for Sensing and Sensor Networks

Overview
Data fusion, distributed processing, networked target localization and tracking, sensor management.

Millions of sensors collect environmental data from the ground, oceans, and space but only a small minority are networked and integrated into a globally accessible distributed database. There are many challenges that must be overcome to in order to build such networks. Principal among them is the distributed management of sensor resources and the fusion of vastly different data types ranging from electro-optical to infrared to hyperspectral radar.
