Abstract -
We discuss quantizers that transmit across noisy channels. In
particular, various results involving index assignments for decoder
optimized quantizers are given, such as the optimality of the
Natural Binary Code. In contrast, it is shown that almost all index
assignments are of poor quality. (Work performed jointly with
