Channel Coding Theory and Applications

Overview
Channel coding is widely used in communication systems to improve the reliability of data transmission. Channel coding includes an encoder that maps a message or information sequence into a coded sequence suitable for transmission over a channel. The channel decoder determines from the received signal an estimate of the information sequence. The fundamental issues are the rate of the code (number of coded symbols per information bit), the reliability of the decoded output and the complexity of the algoritms used for encoding and decoding
