My current research focuses on data management in the cloud. I have worked on and remain interested in database-related topics such as data integration, database usability, information extraction, and mobile computing (see research page for details.)
I am a researcher at NEC Laboratories America, involved with the Data Management Department in Cupertino, California (see recent SIGMOD Record article on our research.) I received my Ph.D. in Spring 2011 from Computer Science and Engineering from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. While at Michigan, I was affiliated with the Database Research Group and working with Prof. H.V. Jagadish. Previously, after a brief detour at Tsinghua University, I went to HKUST for my BEng (first class honors) in Computer Engineering with a minor in Mathematics and MPhil in Computer Science.
I am a professional member of ACM, ACM SIGMOD, and IEEE.
