A post-doctoral position is available in Prof. Del Vecchio.s group in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor on the experimental/theoretical study of retroactivity (departure from modularity) and insulation (enforcement of modularity) in transcriptional/signaling systems in E coli. We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual ready to work on the challenging and exciting problem of quantifying and enforcing modularity in synthetic biological systems in living cells (http://www.nature.com/msb/journal/v4/n1/pdf/msb4100204.pdf). This individual will synergistically collaborate with an Electrical Engineering student with predominantly theoretical background.
Qualifications: Extensive experience with DNA recombination techniques and cell culturing is required. Background on modeling is desired but not required.
