Edwin Olson Assistant Professor Director, APRIL Laboratory Computer Science Division University of Michigan | ![]() |
My research centers around robotic perception, probabilistic environment modeling, and path planning. In each case, I am interested in incorporating machine learning to both improve the performance of the systems and to make the systems behave more like humans. My goal is to build robots that can reliably perform useful tasks in difficult environments, allowing robots to serve as both our proxies and our partners.
My research group at the University of Michigan, APRIL, has a number of ongoing projects. Much more information is available here.
If you are interested in working in the APRIL Laboratory and are already admitted to the CSE division, you can contact Prof. Olson at ebolson@umich.edu to make an appointment. Potential students are encouraged to apply.
