Happy birthday, kwokie!

Two updates in two days?? UNbelievable. (Back when I worked at the Red Cross in high school I had a supervisor who would say "UNbelievable" in this funny way. If you ask me in person I'll try and emulate it for you.. but I don't think it'll be as funny if you haven't actually heard him say it.)

I added some pictures! Also some minor stuff like link colors and the lines between entries and some U-M links on the links page. I've been doing all the html by hand so far. I wonder if I should look for a good editor.. but then, I don't plan to do anything complicated so this should be okay.

Oh I wanted to add some things to my list of things I like to do. I like to shoot pool and watch Dodger games. (Too bad they just got eliminated from the playoffs.)

Days 'til Jenny: 13

Katie says I should make this page like a blog. So I'll give it a shot. In her words: Bloggers, unite!

I walked to campus today! It takes about 25-30 minutes to walk from my apartment to my GSRA lab. I had a permit before which let me drive like 3 minutes and walk 10 minutes. But the lot was always full so I returned my permit cuz I wasn't using it anyway. Walking isn't so bad. (Except for when the snow starts falling later in the year..)

Actually it was raining this morning as I walked to campus. I liked rain a lot in CA, but I wonder if i'll get tired of it raining all the time here.

Wes said Kristin's new car had more "mmph" than his car, and I said:

kefanman: heheh
kefanman: your car just has mph
kefanman: miles per hour
kefanman: hers has mmmmmmmmmph
kefanman: many many many miles per hour
firsttiger8: HAHAH
kefanman: heheh. i make-a da bad joke-a
firsttiger8: i almost spit out my wheat thins
firsttiger8: oh man, i'm copying that quote

So I preemptively copied it myself.

I got my first pay stub today! Woo hoo! But I don't see the money in my account yet. (I have direct deposit.) Probably that'll happen on the 30th. I haven't gotten a paycheck since March and I need one.

Hmm, I want to be like Katie and limit the width of this column.. Time to look at her source code.

Yay, that's done. I changed my background color slightly while I was at it, too. I was going to post up some pictures too (ones I happen to have sitting somewhere on my computer.. or maybe hunting and gathering pics from other people's imagestation sites) but then I got lazy. Anyway, gotta leave myself things to do so I can work on this website in the future. =)

Days until Jenny comes to visit: 14

Welcome.

Since I'm lazy, I decided to do the links page first. I know, it's counterintuitive. Most people would probably consider the writing of home page prose to be easier, and the mechanical setting up of the link page to be something to put off due to laziness. Well, I'm not like most people.

Well, that didn't take long.. I guess because I didn't spend any time making it look pretty, and I don't have all that many links. =) Well I guess I'm stuck with coming up with content.

About me:

(this should actually go on a separate "about me" page.)

My Name Is: Kevin Fan.
I Am: 22. (Let's see if I remember to update this.)
I Am: an EECS grad student at University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Woo Hoo!
I'm From: Los Angeles, California. Born in Santa Monica, grew up in Northridge, went to undergrad at UCLA.
I Have: a cool younger sister who just started undergrad at CSUN. She's so cool, she spent 2700 miles with me in my car.
I Drive: 1997 Nissan Maxima GXE 5-spd. I like my car, but it gets really dirty here since I don't have covered parking.
I Ride: 1988 Honda Hawk GT. I like my bike too. It's in LA right now, and it is for sale. Let me know if you want it.
I Like: watching movies, working on cars, playing guitar, reading the occasional book (none of which I've done much of lately), sleeping, chatting, listening to mp3s, driving, riding, watching airplanes, and .. of course, Jenny.

Ok, now what? I guess I will go back and add descriptions next to all the people I linked.

Ok, now that's done. Now to answer the following question.. Why am I making a web page when I clearly don't seem to have any good ideas on what to put on it?

Good question.

What's my answer?

Am I stalling?

Who, me?

Okay, okay. I thought it'd be nice to put stuff up.. rejoin the leagues of online people. I used to have a page over on the ucla server.. sort of. It was more like random text not arranged in any way, so you couldn't really call it a "site". This page should be slightly more organized. And I do have some ideas on what to put here. For example, info on research I'm doing.

Of course, questions remain. Do I make this first page web-log like? It's everyone's favorite thing to do. But I won't update it very often. So maybe I shouldn't. But then without it, no one will ever come to my page twice. Not that it's important to me that people come to my site. Ah, what a dilemma. And, what pictures do I put up in the pictures section? I don't even have a camera, much less a scanner. But that's what people want, isn't it? Pictures.

I don't even know what kind of "look" to give this thing. Which explains why all the fonts and colors are defaults.

Only time will tell what happens to this site. (My prediction: absolutely nothing. But you're free to be more optimistic.)

But for now.. I have homework to do. Until next time... (and those of you who knew of my previous site's existence know that "next time" can be anywhere up to 6 months from now.. but it could be as soon as tomorrow! ah, unpredictability.)
