Ephemerides

For our Halloween party, I was an (optionally female) hippie:

Some other good costumes included the Pimp, along with Napoleon Dynamite and his Battered Wife:

So that was fun.

Anyway, I finished reading a book I borrowed from Jenny, called A Million Little Pieces by James Frey. It's about how he went through rehab and overcame his severe drug and alcohol problem. What makes the book so good is that it's real, and his perspectives are real. He breaks from the standard 12-step program by taking responsibility for his actions rather than handing his life over to a higher power. It's really an excellent book.

Where the fuck are we now?

Damn, baseball playoffs have been exciting.. Boston was down 0-3 but they've been winning the last few games in dramatic fashion. Now they're leading in Game 6 and all of a sudden the most improbable of comebacks is within their reach.. Meanwhile, the St. Louis - Houston series is pretty close now that Houston came back with 3 in a row. These are the most exciting LCSs I've seen...

Jenny was here this weekend. We were gonna go to Toronto, but due to bad weather and both of us having some work to do, we decided to just hang out here instead. Oh well, next time...

Did some significant car work this afternoon for the first time in a while. Changed the rear brake pads (was planning to do them when I did the fronts, but that was 2.5 months ago...) and also replaced the accessory belts. These were all things I was going to do over the summer (2 summers ago, actually) but somehow never got around to. Figured I should do it before the weather got too cold.

I saw Napoleon Dynamite about a week ago.. it was pretty funny. If you've seen it, you can probably guess my favorite scene, which involves relatives of Pedro, the Mexican student.

Last week I went to Subway for lunch, and there was no line, but I had to go to the bathroom so I did that before ordering. When I came back to the counter there were like 6 people in line. And not only that, the guy at the front was ordering 7 sandwiches and some wraps! And customizing each one! He took forever.. half the people in line left in disgust. And he kept making mistakes and changing his order and stuff. It was lame.

After an exciting end of the season where the Dodgers and Angels clinched their division titles on the same day in comeback victories, the postseason has been less glamorous. The Angels were swept, but the Dodgers pulled out a win today, their first postseason win since I've been a baseball fan. Great performance by Lima. For once we didn't have to come from behind.
