Some car notes...

A couple of weeks ago I noticed that both of my outer CV boots were torn, so I had to get them replaced. I decided against trying to do it myself since it's cold out, I don't have the right tools, and I watched my old mechanic replace the boots on my previous car (Camry) and it looked like a pain in the ass. So I had the mechanic down the street do it, and now I have new CV boots.

The other thing is that I've been getting a "knock sensor" code from my ECU for a while now. I finally got around to ordering a replacement knock sensor off eBay, and installed it last weekend. It was pretty tough since the knock sensor is in a place that is hard to get to, but I got it changed eventually.

Then on Sunday, more car related stuff. I went to the auto show with Mike, Ya-Yunn, and Hyunchul. It was pretty cool; I put some pictures up here.

Not much going on lately... I finally updated my links page. A lot of people's home pages have gone extinct in the past couple years, so I deleted those. Plus my descriptions were all out of date so I just got rid of descriptions entirely.

I wore my supposedly water-resistant watch when I went snowboarding at Mountain High last week, and I guess some moisture got into it. Probably from the numerous times I fell and got snow all over it, heh. Since then there's been this condensation inside the face of the watch that looks bad and obscures the time. I figured it'd just dry up on its own after a few days, but a week passed and that didn't happen. So on Thursday I took it to Target and they were able to open it up and wipe it off from the inside. So now the watch is usable again. And they did it for free, so that was cool.

Well, I'm back in Michigan, got back yesterday. LA was fun. Didn't really do anything spectacular, just hung out with friends, including some I hadn't seen since probably high school. Lost $10 in poker. Went night snowboarding at Mountain High. Went to a bunch of LA-area food staples: Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles, Versailles, Tito's Tacos, California Chicken Cafe, Hurry Curry, Jamba Juice. Tried the chocolate churros at Literati II.

Oh yeah, I read a bunch of books too: Freakonomics by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner, Magical Thinking by Augusten Burroughs, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami, and a couple of Christopher Moore books: Bloodsucking Fiends and Island of the Sequined Love Nun. Since I am too lazy to say something unique about each book, I'll just say they were all pretty good.

Also saw a couple of movies, Capote and Caché, both pretty good.

Well, back to real life!

Happy new year!

It's 81 degrees now in west LA. And I'm going snowboarding later today on a mountain only an hour and a half away that has fresh snow. Only in LA...
