Ephemerides

In contrast to earlier in the summer, the last few weekends I've done a lot of nothing. Mainly just hanging around at home in White Plains, sometimes going to IBM to get a little bit of work done, or hanging out locally. I saw Miami Vice a few weeks ago and liked it a lot. Last night I played pool which was fun. I won one game by pocketing the 8-ball with a nice behind-the-back shot, which was cool and made up for all the easy shots I missed. =)

Last weekend I had the opportunity to go whitewater rafting, but like an idiot, I turned it down because I thought I had a lot of work to catch up on. Well, I failed to account for my own laziness -- I didn't end up doing any work that day, so I could have gone rafting after all. Oh well.

This weekend is it! It's my last weekend in New York, since this coming Thursday is my last day at IBM, and Friday I will be driving my car back to Michigan and flying out to California. I'm sad to be leaving, but I'm about ready to get back to Ann Arbor. Also I'm looking forward to California, since I'll get to be there for longer than a day this time, and I'll actually get to hang out with people outside of a wedding. Hopefully I'll get a few rides in on my motorcycle, too.

Last time I mentioned my car passed 100,000 miles. Here's a picture:

Speaking of my car, I found yesterday that it has a new problem. In the morning I noticed that the clutch pedal felt a little weird. Not like the clutch was slipping; in fact, the opposite -- the clutch was engaging closer to the floor than it used to. Anyway, after work I checked the clutch fluid reservoir and it was completely empty. So I filled it up. The clutch feel is a little better now but I probably need to bleed the clutch to get the air out of the system. Guess I'll add that to my list of things to do when I get back to Michigan. In any case, for the moment it's "fixed", but I hope there isn't a leak in the master (or slave) clutch cylinder.

Dodgers are on a pretty good tear, they've won something like 14 of their last 15 and are leading the NL West. Woo. Of course, all the teams in that division are about equally mediocre. I read a blurb that said every team in the NL West has now spent at least 20 days in first place and 22 days in last place this year.
