Information for Prospective Graduate Students

Here is an overview of some research projects I'm interested in having students work on. I also work with students who suggest their own research projects.

I have funding for some of the above projects - contact me to find out which ones. For others, some of my students have been funded through fellowships (either from the department, or ones they have won from agencies such as the National Science Foundation or Department of Energy). There are also many employment opportunities with the numerous high-tech companies in the area.

To be considered for admission to the graduate Computer Science and Engineering program here at the University of Michigan, you must formally apply. I will not pre-screen anyone - there are too many students involved (last year about 700 students applied to our program.) Further, you need to understand that the admissions decisions are done by a committee, and each student is handled by the faculty member we think is closest to the student's area of interest. Thus a good description of your interests can be helpful. However, I also encourage you to look around and see if there are projects that are interesting that you might have never thought of before.

Here is where you can find additional information about graduate admission to the Computer Science and Engineering program.
