Time frequency analysis provides a joint time-frequency
representation of a signal. Using newly developed methods,
one can often separate the components of a signal in ways
that are difficult or impossible using time-series or spectral
analysis.
RID
The Reduced Interference Distribution or RID results when
certain design principles are followed. A large variety of
different designs can be achieved, all with the goal of providing
high resolution time-frequency representations. All of these
representations exhibit many desirable properties such as correct
time and frequency marginals, proper time and frequency support,
proper instantaneous frequency and group delay characteristics
and, most importantly, considerably reduced interference when
compared to the well-known Wigner-Ville distribution.
