About me

I received B.S. in Physics (ranked 2nd in class) with minor in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 1996, and Ph.D. in Physics (Best Thesis in Physics and Astronomy) from Rice University, Houston, TX in 2003. From 2003 to 2005, I was a postdoctoral research fellow at Harvard University, Cambridge, MA. In 2005, I joined the faculty of the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at the University of Michigan as an Assistant Professor and is now a Professor. My research interest lies in the application and fundamental understanding of nanostructures and nanodevices, including high-density memory and logic devices based on two-terminal resistive switches (memristors), neuromorphic computing systems, and other emerging electronic devices. Currently I serve as the Director of the Lurie Nanofabrication Facility. I have also co-founded Crossbar Inc, a semiconductor company that provides commercial RRAM products.
