Dr. David Chesney's Software Engineering class helps, and is helped by, a passionate young woman who lost her eyesight at an early age. Together, they conceptualize and develop technology for the visually impaired.

An Intro CS Class Like No Other

Over 870 students in EECS 183, Elementary Programming Concepts, recently displayed their final projects. The course teaches undeclared students and non-CS majors the fundamentals of algorithmic thinking and programming.

Austin Elected IEEE Fellow

Prof. Todd Austin has been named an IEEE Fellow "for contributions to simulation techniques and resilient system design in computer architecture." He joined the faculty at Michigan in 1999.

Bertacco Elected IEEE Fellow

Prof. Valeria Bertacco has been named an IEEE Fellow, Class of 2017, "for contributions to computer-aided verification and reliable system design." She joined the faculty at Michigan in 2003.

Conway Elected AAAS Fellow

Professor Emerita Lynn Conway has been elected a Fellow of AAAS for her groundbreaking and fundamental contributions to VLSI design and production of integrated circuits, including methods for executing dynamic instructions and creating and fabricating multiproject chips.

Flinn Elected ACM Fellow

Prof. Jason Flinn has been elected a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery "for contributions to mobile computing and reliable distributed systems." He joined the faculty at Michigan in 2002.

Mudge Elected ACM Fellow

Bredt Family Professor of Engineering Trevor Mudge has been elected a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery "for contributions to power aware computer architecture." He joined the faculty at Michigan in 1977.

Chen to Serve as Interim Chair

Prof. Peter M. Chen, Arthur F. Thurnau Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, will assume the role of Interim Chair of Computer Science and Engineering effective January 1, 2017.

Selected for Chia-Lun Lo Fellowship

Yi-Jun Chang, a graduate student in the Computer Science and Engineering program, has received a Chia-Lun Lo Fellowship for 2016-17. Chang is a second year PhD student working with Prof. Seth Pettie.
