What does the software do?

Coventor's CoventorWare software is used in the design of micro electromechanical systems (MEMS). It includes a variety of electromechanical and microfluidics solvers.

Running CoventorWare on Solaris:

Under /usr/caen/bin (which should be in your search path) is a wrapper script for CoventorWare. To run the application, type coventorware at a shell prompt. If you need to run different versions of CoventorWare, run swselect at a shell prompt to select the version. By default, the wrapper script chooses the most recent version.

When you run coventorware for the first time, a user settings window will appear. Set the working/scratch/shared directories as you wish, leave the 3 license settings as is and set Saber Installation to External. These settings will then be saved to .coventorware2004rc in your home directory and used in future sessions.

Setting up your environment to run executables NOT in /usr/caen/bin

Type the following (or add it to your .cshrc or similar set-up file) prior to running coventorware at a shell prompt:

set path=(instdir/bin instdir/java/bin $path)
where instdir refers to the install directory.

When you run coventorware for the first time, a user settings window will appear. Set the working/scratch/shared directories as you wish, set the 3 license settings as follows and set Saber Installation to External. These settings will then be saved to .memcadrc in your home directory and used in future sessions.
