Synplicity Support
What does the software do?
Synplicity is the industry leader in synthesis tools for FPGAs. It also provides synthesis tools for ASIC synthesis. Available tools include:
- Synplify Pro - logic synthesis for FPGAs
- Amplify - physical synthesis for FPGAs
- Synplify ASIC - logic synthesis for ASICs
- Amplify ASIC - physical synthesis for ASICs
Running on Solaris/Linux:
Under /usr/caen/bin (which should be in your search path) are wrapper scripts for the major Synplicity applications. These scripts set the proper environment variables for you and launch the application. Scripts include:
- synplify_pro
- amplify
- synplify_asic
- amplify_asic
Many of these wrapper scripts use the version settings you select using the CAEN application swselect. If you haven't selected a version with swselect, the wrapper script will default to the latest stable version installed on the platform.
Setting up your Solaris/Linux environment to run executables NOT in /usr/caen/bin
First, identify which package it is that you're interested in. Then add the following lines to your .cshrc or to a small set-up file that you intend to source prior to running the application, replacing instdir with the correct path.
All Synplicity packages
set path=(instdir/bin $path)
Running on Windows
Launch from Start Menu (under "MCAD ECAD MCAE Tools" on CAEN).
