Before we can install the new printer, we first need to download drivers for it. To do this, open your web browser and go to [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/drivers/drivers.php]. On this page, select ‘Workcentre 5675’. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_1.gif] On the next page, right click on the Windows XP drivers and select ‘Save Target As…’. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_2.gif] When the dialogue opens, click the ‘Desktop’ button and then click ‘save’. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_3.gif] When the download completes, click close. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_4.gif] Now, go to the desktop and find the file that just downloaded. Right click on it and select ‘Extract All’. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_5.gif] This will start the ‘Extraction Wizard’. Keep all default values and click next. Once the wizard completes, click ‘Finish’ to exit. The required printer drivers should now appear in a folder on your desktop. Now we can go ahead and add the printer. Start by opening the Start Menu and choosing ‘Control Panel’. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_6.gif] Now, select ‘Printers and Other Hardware’. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_7.gif] Select ‘Printers and Faxes’. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_8.gif] If you already have the old copier installed, simply right click on its icon and select ‘Delete’. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_9.gif] Now, create a new printer by selecting ‘Add a Printer’ from the menu on the left. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_10.gif] This will launch the ‘Add Printer’ wizard. On the first screen, select ‘Local Printer…’ and UNCHECK ‘automatically detect…’. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_11.gif] Now, we need to create a new printer port. Select the ‘Create a new port’ option and select ‘Standard TCP/IP Port’ as the type and then click ‘Next’. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_12.gif] Enter ‘priv3817.eecs.umich.edu’ as the printer name and ‘priv3817 port’ for the port name and then click ‘Next’. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_13.gif] Select ‘Finish’ to complete the port wizard. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_14.gif] Now we need to specify what driver to use for the newly created printer. On this screen, select ‘Have Disk’. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_15.gif] #When the dialogue appears, click ‘browse’. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_16.gif] #In the drop down box, select ‘Desktop’. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_17.gif] #Now, double click the folder on the desktop that contains the drivers you extracted earlier and then click ‘Open’. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_18.gif] Once the dialogue closes, click ‘OK’ to continue. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_19.gif] On the next screen, select ‘Xerox Workcentre 5675 PS’ as the model and click ‘Next’. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_20.gif] #On the next screen, choose whether or not this should be your default printer and then click ‘Next’ to continue. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_21.gif] #Choose the ‘Do not share this printer’ and click ‘Next’. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_22.gif] #Now click 'Finish.' [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_23.gif] However, we aren't quite done yet. Go back to the 'Devices and Printers' menu, and right click on the new Xerox ColorQube we just added. Select 'printer properties' [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_24.gif] When the dialogue appears, open the ‘configuration’ tab and click the ‘Accounting’ button. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_26.gif] In the accounting window, choose ‘Xerox Standard Accounting’ from the drop down box. Enter your account number in the 'default user ID' section. Click okay, and then click apply. [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_27.gif] [http://www.eecs.umich.edu/dco/files/images/windows_addcopier_27.gif] This concludes the tutorial.
