Introduction
Our project implemented a device that translated movement
on a touchscreen into drawing on an Etch-A-Sketch. As many
people have difficulty drawing anything more difficult than
straight lines or stairs on an Etch-A-Sketch due to the
difficulty of coordinating horizontal and vertical knob
movements, we decided to eliminate that problem by creating
a device that allowed one to freely draw on a touchscreen
as if it were paper and see those movements translated
directly to an Etch-A-Sketch. Also, due to the nature of
drawing on the Etch-A-Sketch--all drawings are essentially
one continuous line--we implemented two modes: relative
drawing and absolute drawing. Relative drawing mode
interpreted movements on the touchscreen as if it were a
trackpad, whereas absolute drawing mode mapped directly to
the touchscreen itself to the Etch-A-Sketch window.
