Modulus Prawn Wireless Remote Car
Project by Alan Lee, James Shuster, and Neil Semidin
Our car worked great. An improvement that could be made is that we can get 10 volt batteries so that our motor can be powered better. Also, a more reliable RS232 wireless transmitter and receiver would have made the car much better. Our nintendo controller worked as planned and sent all the necessary opcodes to control the car. The integration went pretty smoothly as the handshake signals went just as planned. On the MPC555 end, figuring out Codewarrior and the MPC555 took quite sometime but we were able to knock that out after a few weeks. All of our turrets worked as well as the motors, servos, and H-bridges. We also had a very interesting incident where we melted a servo which required us to dissemble the car to put in a new steering mechanism. I was really proud of the work that our group accomplished and I have always wondered as a little kid how remotes actually worked, so this was a very interesting experience.
